KitchenAid Classic Euro Peeler: This swivel peeler had an average performance.Serious Eats / Amanda Suarez The Competition Additionally, we found that potato skin got trapped more often in swivel peeler blades. ![]() In our tests, swivel peelers were more prone to skidding across the surface of a vegetable and were less agile when it came to getting around the nooks and crannies of potatoes. While it may take some transitioning to embrace Y-peelers if you’re used to swivel peelers, it’ll be more efficient (and comfortable!) in the end to use Y-peelers in the kitchen. The KitchenAid and Rösle all performed well with potatoes, too. We liked the ergonomically designed handle on the Piranha option, which had a slight dip towards the peeler end, giving the hand some extra leverage when moving the blade around a vegetable. Our winning picks, the Kuhn Rikon Original Swiss Peeler and the Kuhn Rikon Piranha Y Peeler, peeled potatoes the cleanest, leaving little to no clean-up needed. Y-peelers also maneuvered more easily around the potatoes’ nooks and crannies, and had less instances of skin getting stuck inside the blade. On average, the Y-peelers we tested peeled potatoes nearly twice as quickly as the straight swivel competition.
Many people never heard of it, and those who have often don't know why someone would choose Jellyfin over Plex, considering Plex's legacy. Today, I posted a new video, showing how I set up Jellyfin on my NAS, and explaining a bit more about transcoding, legal issues around breaking DRM, and acquiring DVDs and Blu-Rays on the cheap.īut I wanted to explain a little more about why I chose Jellyfin. Like cable networks and satellite companies before, they're raising rates (at a rate higher than inflation), stuffing their content libraries with filler that's not even worth the bandwidth to stream it, and shoving ads in paying users' faces.Īnd in my first video of this two-part series, I showed how I rip Blu-Rays and DVDs into my computer. Don't use the main plex app at all if you've got CD audio as it'll resample it for no benefit. The blog post Streaming services lost the plot detailed how streaming services have become the thing they were made to destroy. Prism does output HD audio so is probably your best best if you really want HD audio until plexamp is updated, but I wouldn't use it for DSD. Hope this helps? Plexamp is the nicest player for aesthetics and to use, it even has nice little labels for HD audio, but doesn't yet output them to a DAC. Not sure whose error this is as prism clearly supports FLAC.Īlso, while we're mentioning DSD, it would be nice if the dashboard reported DSD audio better than "DSD_LSBF_PLANAR (Stereo)" :) Prism can't handle DSD at all but sadly for some reason, it gets transcoded serverside to MP3 rather than FLAC which would be preferable. So a correction to my earlier comment, plex/plexamp don't transcode DSD on the server but directly serves it to the client, which then transcodes it internally. Seems to have fixed the bug where any file after a DSD was also transcoded Seems to output all audio at 48khz, which is arguably worse than 44.1khz SamplerateĤ4.1khz audio output for all samplerates, even 48khz I appreciate I've not tested all sample rates but I think I've given a good selection. I can only report output samplerate as the mojo only shows input samplerate, but you can infer the bit depth. Just done some testing, ipad pro 2021 outputting to a chord mojo. If Apple eventually supports HD audio output on the AppleTV then we'll be even closer. This is all a real shame as I feel that plex is beginning to become a workable and much cheaper alternative to Roon. I did flag this to the dev but I'm not aware that anything was ever done. ![]() If you pay a bit of money for the prism music player for iOS that supports plex, it does support HD audio output to an external DAC, but last time I tried it had a bug with DSD where if you played a DSD track, it would cause the server to transcode to MP3 and then all later files of any format would also be transcoded to MP3. Elan said that it breaks their workflow or something. DSD audio is transcoded serverside and Plex currently has no plans to support direct output of DSD audio. Plex have stated that they intend to update plex so that it will output HD audio, but it's not there yet. You can tell this if you use a DAC that shows output format which I think the dragonflies do, in colour? My Chord mojo shows this. ![]() I've not tested recently but I'm fairly sure the same is true of the main ios plex app too. it accepts the file at full res (for PCM files) but downscales it in-app. I'm not totally sure about the plex app itself, but with plexamp, it plays all audio at 44.1/16. What sort of items should I check/replace in order to at least get it to crank? Starter solenoid? Ignition switch? Alternator? Questions for you (if you wouldn't mind): I checked and replaced the main fuse but haven't done any more work on it. The instrument cluster doesn't light up or anything. Anyways, a friend of mine had hooked up the battery backwards and now the car won't crank. Being naive at the point of purchase I did not consider this. Unfortunately, I later found out, I won't be able to get the car e-tested in Ontario because the P5 needs to be tested with OBD2 (a custom megasquirt system was wired in). I parked the car and hadn't worked on it since a couple months ago. On the way home from the purchase, the transmission went (5 speed) due to the fluid leaking while it was sitting. I purchased a P5 with a KLZE dropped into it (July 2013) and was very excited about the car. I stumbled across a tread you had contributed to saying you had dropped a KLZE into a P5. It will work perfect and you will pay $20-$30 for it rather than $60-$100. Just search for a 93-94 MX-3 GS vaf and make sure the description says JE50 as well as the picture. These people have discovered that by doing this they can charge $40-$60 more. VAF: JE50.this is where the useful info lies.If looking on ebay for JE50 Vaf don't buy one that has KLZE listed in the title or description. The VRIS points are nto correct though so you will not be at the best power like you are when using K元1/36 w/ JE50 VAF If you are using a 93-94 harness the ZE will run well on the KL55 ecu w/ a KL02 VAF. Heater core hoses will bolt up and work fine, some trimming may be necessary. Or cut off the Protege U bracket and weld it to the PGT shift linkage. The Probe GT/MX-6 shift linkage corrects this BUT the U bracket that mounts to the base of the shifter is wider so place some washers into the base of your shifter lever to take up the slack.
